menopausal years. We believe you are the most important person involved in your health care and we encourage your participation.

Annual Exams and Preventive Medicine
Staying healthy and early detection is key to your over all health and well being.

Annual gynecological exam allows a healthcare provider to assess normal development of reproductive organs and screen for certain
health problems. It provides an opportunity for a woman to talk with her clinician about any sexual health or reproductive concerns and to
discuss general women's health care.

The importance of an annual gynecologic exam is most evident especially when the incidence of both breast and cervical cancer continue
to rise. Early detection is every women’s best defense against all types of cancer. By scheduling an annual gyn exam and an annual
mammogram (age dependent), women take a proactive stand against the disease. Not only does an annual exam help maintain a healthy
lifestyle, it also provides comfort and reassurance and establishes a basis to compare future test results. Women also have particular
nutritional needs. Your clinician can discuss bone health, the importance of calcium and iron, etc. and make recommendations related to a
woman’s diet and nutritional intake.

Please note that most insurance carriers refer to this appointment as a Well Women visit. Should other health issues arise or are
discussed with the provider during this visit, your insurance carrier will consider this a Problem Visit and may assess you a separate co-
pay or deductible.

Incontinence and Bladder Related Care
Nearly 13 million Americans have experienced some form of incontinence. Not only are the elderly women effected, conditions are also
common in women in their teens, 20’ and 30’s . Because of the embarrassment associated with urinary incontinence and other bladder or
pelvic floor disorders, many women suffer in silence. Daily tasks may become more difficult, since coughing, laughing or sneezing may
trigger an accident. There are simple solutions and treatments available for these disorders and speaking with our clinicians is the start to
resolving the issues.

Medical Procedures
Whether undergoing a surgical or laparoscopic procedure, you can rest assured that the latest, state-of-the-art equipment and
technologies are utilized to insure the highest quality of care. We also offer in office surgery which may lower your out of pocket costs, faster
recovery time and the procedure can be performed in the comfort of our office. Our experienced medical staff performs the following
gynecological procedures:

Colposcopy is a procedure typically performed after an abnormal pap smear test. A speculum (an instrument used to hold open the birth
canal in order to view and examine the cervix) will be inserted into the vagina and opened slightly. The cervix is then swabbed with a
chemical solution (acetic acid) to remove the mucus that covers the surface and help highlight abnormal areas. The colposcope is then
positioned at the opening of the vagina and the area is thoroughly examined. Photographs may be taken.

Endometrial Ablation is an alternative procedure to a hysterectomy. This procedure is for women who suffer from heavy or prolonged
periods. The procedure involves removing the lining of the uterus (endometrium), which is the source for bleeding. This procedure uses
hysteroscopy to visualize the uterine cavity. This procedure can be conveniently performed in our office or in an out patient basis.

Hysteroscopy is a gynecologic procedure that uses a hysteroscope to look inside the uterus. This procedure can help evaluate abnormal
bleeding, infertility, fibroid tumors, polyps, and displaced IUDS.

Hysterectomy is a very common operation. The uterus may be completely removed, partially removed, or may be removed with the tubes
and ovaries. A supracervical hysterectomy is removal of just the upper portion of the uterus, leaving the cervix intact. A total hysterectomy is
removal of the entire uterus and the cervix. A radical hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus, the tissue on both sides of the cervix
(parametrium), and the upper part of the vagina. A hysterectomy may be done through an abdominal incision (abdominal hysterectomy) or
through a vaginal incision (vaginal hysterectomy). Common indicators for this surgery are cancer, uterine fibroids, abnormal bleeding, and
endometriosis. Our highly trained gynecologic surgeons can discuss the best option for you.

A
laparoscopy is a procedure used by physicians to explore the abdomen and reproductive organs. It may be used in cases of infertility,
tubal sterilization, ectopic pregnancies, and pelvic pain. It also can be used to diagnose endometriosis, fibroids, and ovarian cysts. A
medical instrument called a laproscope is attached to a video monitor and allows the physician to examine the abdomen without a large
abdominal incision. This procedure is typically associated with less pain and faster recovery.

Laparoscopy Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy uses a laparoscope to visualize the pelvic organs and to assist in the hysterectomy
procedure. This enables the physician to perform part of the surgery through a small incision.

Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) is an outpatient procedure used to remove pre-cancerous cells in the cervix. The
instrument is a fine metal loop that has an electrical current passing through the loop, and is used to cut the tissue. The electrical current
allows for the tissue to be excised and helps reduce the bleeding.

Myomectomy is the surgical removal of fibroids from the uterine muscle without hysterectomy.

Operative Hysteroscopy is the use of a hysteroscope to remove uterine adhesions called synechiae, polyps or fibroids.

Tubal ligation, also known as "tying the tubes", is a form of sterilization. One or two small incisions are made in the abdomen at the navel
and a laparoscope is inserted. Using instruments that are inserted through these incisions, the tubes (fallopian tubes) are coagulated
(burned) or sealed shut with a small clip placed on the tube. The patient is able to return home a few hours after the procedure. Tubal
ligation can be performed immediately after childbirth through a small incision near the navel or during a cesarean section.

The
Essure procedure, is a new, minimally invasive method of permanent birth control. The procedure can be conveniently performed in
our office or on an out patient basis. Unlike tubal ligation, Essure requires no incisions, burning, or tying, and the entire procedure takes 35
minutes. Most patients may return home in as little as 45 minutes following the procedure and resume normal activities within 24 hours.
Essure may be recommended for patients who could face risks through other procedures, including obese women or those who have had
past abdominal surgery.
